Paul J. Korngold
Grace Betancourt Powers
Paul J. Korngold specializes in all New York City real estate tax matters. He often consults with owners, developers and attorneys on current and future real estate tax implications and annually writes more than 150 opinions and projections on these matters. Over the course of his four decades in practice, Paul also has represented clients in DHCR matters, real estate transactions and all the major tax incentive programs including 421-a, J-51 and ICIP/ICAP.
Paul was a former partner of the law firm Tuchman, Korngold, Weiss, Liebman & Lindemann, LLP and was formerly an adjunct instructor of law at New York Law School. He has also served as a representative to the Network of Bar Leaders.
Paul has served as chairman of the Law Committee of the Associated Builders and Owners of Greater New York and is a former director of the New York State Builders Association and The Associated Builders and Owners of Greater New York and is a past president and current director of the Real Estate Tax Review Bar Association.
Paul is frequently quoted as an authority on real estate tax matters, J-51 real estate abatements and tax exemptions in various publications including the New York Law Journal, The New York Times and Wall Street Journal. He has been retained as an expert witness on real estate tax matters and has lectured on real estate tax certiorari, tax exemption and transactional real estate matters before many organizations including the Rent Stabilization Association, the New York County Lawyers Association, the New York Association of Realty Managers, the Council of New York Cooperatives & Condominiums, the Federation of Housing Cooperatives, the Bar Association of the City of New York, the Real Estate Tax Review Bar Association, the Community Housing Improvement Program and the Associated Builders and Owners of Greater New York.
